Exodus 20:12 You shall honor your Father and Mother.
To study the 5th commandment we used the story of Kind David’s son, Absalom. He seemed to be a perfect example of "NOT" honoring his father. You can read the story out of a children's bible or click on this link for Ruth Willms version of the story, Prince Absalom.
She does a good job of telling the story. Look for the story in 2 Samuel 13:1-19.Cut out the centers on the "Five card" then have the children draw in pictures of their own Father and Mother.

Have the children tell you things that honor their parents. Write down each of the things that honor on a sperate piece of paper. Next have the children tell you things that dishonor their parents and write them down on small strips of paper. As you write down each statement pass the papers to the children. When each child has a paper have them wad them up into a ball. The children holding large paper balls are on one team, and the children holding small paper balls are on the other.
Put two pieces of masking tape on the floor about 24" apart from each other and place a balloon in the center. The object is to have a team on both sides of the lines and throw the paper wads at the balloon. The first team to push the balloon into the opponents side wins. Then have the children switch sides.
After the game discuss whether it was easier to move the balloon with the large "Honor" paper balls or the small "dishonor" paper balls?
